Even in the age of social media and text messaging, there are occasions and sentiments that warrant the special treatment of a beautifully composed hand-written message in a card. You may want to say thank you; send birthday wishes; express your grief and thoughts for a family experiencing loss; or reach out to a long-lost friend. The challenge is to create something original and heartfelt while avoiding clichés or soppiness. It’s a delicate balance that can be mastered by following a few simple rules.
This is a practical, fun workshop. You’ll write a range of messages to experiment with styles, and use props that might surprise you. You will also have the chance to write an authentic message that you know you can use in the future.
After many years of teaching in schools and at university, and a stint as a bookshop owner, Rosie can now be found writing in her pyjamas or cafes, but never at the same time. Visit her website for more information.
