This class gives you simple rules for how to taste wine, fires up your ability to sniff & spit, and teaches you how you can fake your way through any fancy dinner party.
An introductory, informal wine appreciation class, this class covers the basics in a relaxed & fun way. Learn about grape varieties, wine styles and gain some insight into the structural elements of wine by focusing in on the role of acidity, sugar and tannin. We’ll taste five wines and each one will have a specific thing to teach us.
Frank Hellwig is a winemaker and somelier. His early life was spent living all over SE Asia, but once he “found roots” in the wine industry there was no shifting him. Frank has worked for French, Canadian & US wine companies in numerous places since the early 1990’s and loves to share anecdotes about farmers, critters, seasons and disasters – as much as successes! He is well versed in wine appreciation presentations and loves to share any wine knowledge.
